| The harder it is to attain something, the more valuable it is. So the value of something really becomes relevant to how you attained it, which obviously is relative to each person. I should say, it's value to me becomes relative to what it took me to attain it. So when everything is easy to you, easy for you to attain, you don't attribute it much value....because it can be easily replaced? or at least, you feel it can be easily replaced. I think one of the most insightful things I've ever heard is this: "our greatest havings are wantings." Obviously its from C.S Lewis because he's the only guy I quote. We want to want. How crazy is that? I've never heard anyone hint at this truth before, but it seems very true. C.S. Lewis put it in the context of children. Children (generally speaking) are crazy joyous. But they have nothing and want everything. There is that feeling of anticipation, of wanting to have, but not yet having. Why are some rich folk so miserable? They have, but they don't want (they dont want because the second they have a desire, they fulfill it). And what they have, they don't really want because they attained it so easily. They can't have the one thing they want, which is wanting itself. This is pretty crazy to me. James 1:9 "But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position." | | |
| Ok so I'm blogging. I haven't blogged in years, but I've been wanting to get back into this. So bam, I'm back into it. Not much to say right now...in fact i'm still at work right now, so I probably shouldn't even be on here. But then again, my supervisor is 2 feet from me surfing yahoo news, so, I'm probably good here. Anywho, just getting the ball rolling, more to come. | | |
| Awesome quote from George MacDonald which was very encouraging to me and I hope will be to you too: "If I felt my heart as hard as a stone; if I did not love God, or man, or woman, or little child, I would yet say to God in my heart, "O God, see how I trust Thee, because Thou are perfect, and not changeable like me. I do not love Thee, I love nobody. I am not even sorry for it. Thou seest how much I need Thee to come close to me, to put Thy arm round me, to say to me, my child; for the worse my state, the greater my need of my Father who loves me. Come to me , and my day will dawn; my love will come back, and , oh! how I shall love Thee, my God! and know that my love is Thy love, my blessedness Thy being." - GEORGE MACDONALD | | |
| I have the painfully annoying habit of making things into bigger issues than they really are. It's starting to really get on my nerves. I'm...getting on my own nerves? Is that possible? Maybe thats why I like Bill Murray movies so much. | | |
